Planet B-boy

As you know I am a b-boy myself, I enjoy the b-boy topic and anything in that category which leads me to this film. Planet b-boy a documentary on several b-boy crews and the individual b-boys in those crews, basically showing the lives of b-boys. This film is exposing this predicament because yes they are famous but they are not gaining any money. They are living in poverty and this shows their dream winning BOTY which is a Boy tournament of sorts. BOTY stands for Battle Of The Year, Their are different sections to this, performances and battles to see who's the best. B-boys dont have it easy, we dont make much money unless your a hitter on the streets or if you have gigs such as movies and parties. Most b-boys want to go to BOTY to prove their the best crew, but its difficult when you have to work and have a family. The hardships of a B-boy, we are also people and go through a lot but strive to become better and achieve tour goals thats what this film shows.

Screamo for a film?

For the film, me and my Crew mates decided on doing one portion on screamo which is a type of music. A sub category of rock to be more accurate harcore punk, screamo utilizes the screaming aspect in rock. As a fellow screamo listener i believe this would be a good idea to base the film off of because my whole crew is full of musicians aswell as myself and we enjoy screamo. It was pretty obvious that we would pick a topic for our film that relates to us the most because who knows music better then musicians.  The way we plan to do our video is kind of uncertian but we will make it so they blend in well.

Our goal with this film is to expose screamo to many people, or at least to make them understand why others like it. Screamo has helped people because some screamo can relate to peoples lives, and surprisingly it is calming so we're just working on showing people this. That is basically what screamo is and what we plan to do with this music form.

Ideas to expose

Most of my idea's come from my daily life as a dancer, skateboarder, muscian etc. I do alot of stuff and i I see a lot of stuff, I wish that I could expose such things to the public and people could realize that its  important. Many dont care for skating or b-boying or some music for that matter so  I want to expose them to the world so people can see. I think these can change the world if exposed to the public. As a dancer of course most of my inspiration comes from dance , some dances are underground in a sense because yes people see this dance on television but no one knows what it is, where it cam from or whats the history behind it.

The people are basically clueless exposing the history and culture of the underground stuff, educating the people on the various ideas. These ideas can draw people much closer in a way because people can connect more easier since they now understand each other and the differences. The ideas are generated off of regular people so if I can find what interest them I can make them realize their flaws and their lack of understanding with out offending them.

Break Ton Neck

Break Ton Neck, a dance film which shows one dancer B-boying in a room. I believe that this shows how people do not know about B-boy's the dancer represents the B-boys. the empty room represents the people that don't know of this dance style.  A very good film and very straight forward cause its a guy dancing, no interviews no nothing just straight dancing.  B-boying is and was an underground form of dance, truth is people dont know anything about B-boying culture.

They even went as far as to call it by a different name which is breakdancing which is why this video is so good in my eyes. People will watch this video and be virtually clueless, asking questions like what am i looking at? how can they do that? etc. This will cause them to look up and ask questions about B-boying exposing this underground style to themselves and everyone around them.  The dancer in the video is very smart for making this video but he is also a dope dancer and he has my  respect.

Starbucks Origin

The Starbucks Origin experience made by the people of Starbucks video can be found on mediastorm.com. This video targets the idea of people not knowing, people tend to not know much for who they work or what they consume or buy. this video shows employees of Starbucks going on a trip to the origin of they're coffee. Thus enlightening them and letting them experience the origin of their company product. The video shows the trip of the employees to i believe one of the three places where Starbucks Coffee beans are grown, picked and processed.

These three places are held in tanzania , indonesia and costa rica these are the only ones mentioned in the video. The company is doing this to show the hard work and passion of those who work for the Starbucks brand.  From the fields where the beans are picked to the factory theyre processed to experience both of those things. This video and its contents are important because your finding out whats in Starbucks coffee. Not many knows where their coffee comes from or whats in it. Many dont know much about the companies they purchase from or eat at so Starbucks decided to show us.
Through the Origin Experience, Starbucks has taken groups of their partners to Costa Rica, Sumatra, Indonesia and Tanzania, Africa to experience first-hand the incredible hard work and passion that goes into each pound of coffee they sell. My Inspiration: The Freshest Kids

The Freshest Kids is another film about hip pop bringing forth its awesomeness so the world can realize what they are passing by. The Freshest Kids highlights the B-boys, many call it breakdancing but myself and others prefer being called b-boys. This film educates those who do not know the history of B-boying and also about the hip pop culture, which many over look.  Just so you know B-boying just like the rest of hip pop was born in the South Bronx. It is a way to express yourself just like graffiti, but B-boying originally came from another dance called Rocking. Rocking is a style of dance that imitates fighting and also has the intensity of fighting but  that's as far as it goes. Honestly the Freshest Kids is one of the most inspiring and educating  films on hip pop culture,  It is my inspiration to keep B-boying and improve.  I also wish to make a film similar to this.

By similar I mean a video that exposes and teaches about something underground to the people.  The Freshest Kids educates people on hip pop culture but what about other cultures, styles, music? We know nothing about them, this film is one of the few movies that tackles these sort of silences. To be honest I have not seen anything like it besides Style Wars . To finish this off I'd like to say that this film is one of my favorites, it influences me very much as a B-boy. This film helps me strive to become a better b-boy and embrace the culture. It also influences how I would want to make a film.

Style Wars and What I think?

Style Wars a movie covering graffiti and its origins, honestly it is a good movie. Graffiti is an art from but people claim that it is not just vandalism, graffiti is a part of the hip pop culture. Many people are paying others to create a graffiti piece on their walls but it is not considered a true art form yet. Style Wars informs the people about graffiti and its back ground, I really enjoy the movie as an artist, B-boy and as a filmer/photographer. Why because like I stated they're bringing forth this art form the people deem bad and informing people and trying to show why artist love this.

why they do it. its a way to get people to realize that its good and its something people should know about. As a person who is apart of the hip pop culture i would say this film pretty much shows some of hip pop in its best when hip pop was new. I recommend this movie to those who enjoy or want to learn more about the hip pop culture. this is hip pop in it best and original form
